This email could change your life.
After my speech at a recent conference,
A man by the name of Jason came up to me and said,
“You killed it man! Quick question,
I’ve noticed you stand with your back straight while holding your hands behind your back when you walk around,
Curious what the reason is?”
I was surprised he noticed.
I told him:
“I almost didn’t fly out here because I’ve had terrible back pain for 10 years.
It’s gotten much worse this year and it’s spreading.
I hold my hands behind my back to relieve the pain.
Why do you ask?”
It just so happened that Jason is a world-class spine health expert, he works with the most famous athletes in the world,
Jason asked to feel my back and he pressured different areas of my lower and upper spine.
Within seconds he said,
“You need to get this checked out right now.
I’m going to make some calls and find you a specialist and get this looked at. ”
I thought, “Why so serious? Everyone has back pain, right?”
He booked me an appointment,
I had to travel 3 hours just to see the specialist.
I showed up, did the consultation, did the x-rays and the tests.
Without going into detail,
let’s just say what the specialist had to say meant that the next few months of my life could look different than what I had planned.
Nothing you need to worry about but it just meant I had to make changes, and make them fast.
I had to let go of focusing on work and commit to recovery-work as my full-time job.
I also had to say no to 80% of things I was doing. This included closing 5 projects that I was leading, including my online public speaking membership that members helped me build for months.
So why do you need to hear all this?
Because there are 3 important lessons that you can learn from this:
1) One question can make you question your life.
If Jason didn’t ask me that question, my health could have been significantly worse in the coming months.
The only reason I made all these changes to my life is because he chose to speak to me and say what was on his mind.
If you’re ever in a meeting, or thinking about saying something to someone. If you ever have something you’re curious about.
Say it. Ask it. Voice it.
If not for you, then for them.
2) Every challenge is an opportunity.
I made the mistake of not setting people up well to function independently without me.
Now, there’s an opportunity to correct that with whatever comes next.
If you look close enough at your challenges, there’s an opportunity waiting to be found.
3) Don’t wait for tomorrow.
Life can change fast.
Sometimes we lack urgency, I know I do.
I’ve realized that If I truly want to have an impact on other people,
then I need to change the way I ‘teach.’
I have to transition from ‘instructing’ to ‘inspiring.’
So don’t be surprised if you start seeing a lot more inspirational content coming from me!
I sincerely hope my videos and emails have helped improve your life.
